Kinect based Whack-A-Mole game

Image
This is a game project we did for a little fun at the Riderville celebration before the Grey Cup last week. Done with a Microsoft Kinect, Processing, and some creative programming. A little partnership between my workplace of Talking Dog Studios and IKS Media  .

Spatial Computing concept videos

Image
This is a nice series of concept videos from Albert Hwang on how Spatial Computing will work in the future with a combination of kinect like sensors, augmented reality glasses and gloves to control interaction.  He started making this in 2009 and and posted the 3rd on this April.  Some very nice concepts and he explains it a very straight forward manner.  Looking forward to these experiences becoming a reality in the future. Augmented Reality and Sound

As some of you may know, I've been working on Augmented Reality projects at Talking Dog Studios and I also have a great love for sound in all it's forms. I think these two videos compliment each other and I think I'm curious to look more into these concepts. I've been playing around with a app for the iPhone called RJDJ that seems to sit in the middle of these two videos. Enjoy ... ------------------------------

Augmented Reality

So, I've been exploring the technicalities and coolness of " Augmented Reality " AR at my workplace over the last week or so. It's a process of basically overlaying 2d or 3d images onto video of the world in "real time". This can be done using a video camera and a computer which could then lead to some kind of headset in the future. The process has been around for a number of years, but recently it has become possible to do it relatively easy on a website. here is a video that got our curiosity going -- It's designed using Adobe Flash, a code library called papervision3d , and another library called FLARToolKit based off of ARToolKit. Saqoosha, who translated the code to work with flash, has some sample code to get started http://saqoosha.net/en/flartoolkit/start-up-guide/ There is a nice starter article that I've been going back to more than once from Mikko Haapoja out of Toronto: www.mikkoh.com/blog/ A company called Boffswana designed a litt...
